Specifications: Due to these troubling economic times, more and more manufacturers are rolling out devices with reasonable price tags. One of them is the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-P42X1 42-inch plasma HDTV. Although this is a cheaper model, Panasonic did everything they could to give the best value for your money and as a result, producing a very competent plasma TV model.
The Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-P42X1 is a 42-inch plasma TV that is capable of playing HD movies at 720p (1024 x 768). The truth is, it is very hard to spot the difference between 1080p and 720p HDTV models. For that reason, it makes good sense to get a 720p model if you are on a budget. This model comes with the standard array of connectors, including 2 HDMI port behind the TV. It also has a SD memory card slot. For audio, the 2 stereo speakers produce a total of 20 watts in audio output.
Design: The Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-P42X1 has an all glossy external casing, with a thin bezel and equally glossy rectangular stand. It is pretty slim, measuring at 40.6 x 3.7 x 26 inches and weighing in at 57.3 pounds. Its subtle black design will fit in well into any home theater system and décor.
Features & Performance: The video quality of the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-P42X1 is pretty good for its class. It has deep black levels and the images had accurate colors. Although the image quality may not be as good as some of Panasonic's more expensive models, the differences are barely noticeable for an average layperson consumer. It has most of the basic image settings and the interface was easy to use. At the time this review was written, the Panasonic VIERA X1 TC-P42X1 is price at around 8 each, a great price for a 42-inch plasma TV.
